CRESCENDO Cover Reveal

It's coming.... very soon!

We will be posting much more about the cover reveal very soon. There are some really cool plans in the works so stay tuned!!

CRESCENDO News

Becca has confirmed that CRESCENDO will be released here in the US on November 16 and tentatively in the UK on October 14. AND now we have a first look at the synopsis...
Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described as anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy, Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The further Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim bloodline has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

SO, what do you think about the synopsis??? Is it what you were expecting? What part sounds the most interesting to you?? Dish in the comments.

Twitter Contest

We really want to hit 1000 Twitter Followers so we thought we'd have a little contest.

We are going to give away a signed HUSH HUSH poster at random to one of our followers when we hit 1000!

AND to make it more interesting for our existing followers we're giving away a signed Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of HUSH HUSH (with the alternate ending) at random to existing followers who refer friends to become new followers. So it goes a little something like this.... You tell your friends about @HushHushFan, they become followers and tweet to us saying "I'm a new follower @xxxxx sent me!" Obviously they should insert your twitter name where the xxx's are :-) The more people who tell us you referred them, the more entries you get! We'll pick a winner at random when we get 1000 followers!

Ask questions in the comments and we'll answer here, too.

YA Chat

We want to thank each and everyone who stopped by our YA Chat earlier tonight. It was great to hear the thoughts and perspectives of so many.

We intend to continue focusing on this issue in the future so stay tuned!!

Note: Due, no doubt, to it's extreme popularity Twilight was discussed several times during tonight's discussion. (Hopefully no one was offended by the way the references kept popping up). Rebecca and I are huge fans (Team Edward all the way lol) and respect the opinions on all sides of the issue. :-)

Is YA Getting a Bad Rap?

Frankie over at The First Novels Club posted a really super blog yesterday about the bad rap YA has been getting from some folks lately.

Teens are dealing with more crap than ever these days. They know and understand harsh realities that even those of us who were teenagers half a decade ago didn't have to go through. The world is rapidly changing, and teens are rapidly adjusting. They're smart. They're savvy. And they are tough cookies. And if they want to read a book--any book--that is fantastic. Because reading rocks.

Most teens know the difference between a normal relationship and an extremely unhealthy one, which yes- it does often gets glorified and depicted in paranormal romance. And if there are teens or adults reading a book along those lines, believing it's sexy to threaten violence, believing its healthy for a person to want to kill themselves over you, dreaming of a guy who stalks you...I have a hard time believing that those thoughts and desires stemmed from the reading of a book. Unhealthy ideas about relationships stem from a deeper source than that and are often the fault of other factors, not a story.

We want to take this a step further, we want to know what you think....

It’s no secret that YA books have grown in popularity with teens, tweens and adults of all ages. With that popularity comes more scrutiny – it has been said that some YA contains immoral themes that could negatively influence young readers. We want to hear from YOU young and old, YA Lovers, Readers, Writers, Editors (etc). Are you influenced by the storylines and relationships you read about? Join us on Thursday night at 9 pm to discuss this on FallenArchangel.com

Some Awesome Reviews

Edward Cullen says goodbye to fame and fandom. Ex-Twilight fans now sport V scars instead of fangs.

Becca Fitzpatrick crafts an intoxicating boy, an inevitable and dangerous romance, and a story spun from the Bible story we thought we all knew

If fallen angels are the next big thing in urban fantasy, then Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush Hush sets an impressive benchmark in the sub-genre.

As a first-time novelist, Fitzpatrick absolutely nails the right mix of suspense, romance, action and killer dialogue in this fast-paced page-turner.

Paula Weston, Other Worlds

You don't know who Nora should trust, who's good, who's bad, what's real?

It's the mystery, the style, the voice, the Patch that keeps you reading. I look forward to reading more from Fitzpatrick.

Q and A with RAVEN author, Allison van Diepen

A big thank you to author, Allison van Diepen, for being so awesome and taking the time to answer a few of the fan questions, and to those of you who submitted all the great questions. We received a large volume so we apologize if yours wasn't posted. If you haven't done so yet check out the RAVEN thread under Featured Fiction on the forum to chat with other fans and see the book trailer. It's an amazing book!

*Warning, this post contains some spoilerish info. Also, forgive the formatting on this post, Blogger wouldn't cooperate this evening.

Q. Do you know how to breakdance or just enjoy watching?

A. I LOVE to dance. And though I’d like to think I have some pretty cool moves, I’m definitely not a breakdancer. But I’m fascinated by the way breakdancers move – and the risks they take with their bodies. To me it’s just amazing.

Q. What inspired you to delve into the paranormal?
A. I’ve always been interested in the paranormal. My friends will tell you I’m the first to suggest telling ghost stories. I do believe there are aspects of this world that are “paranormal”, and I take them seriously. Because of that, I don’t dabble – no séances, Ouija Boards, etc. No, thank you.

Q. Do you have tattoos?

A. No. I’m not into body art, though I have nothing against it. Tattoos are too permanent for me. I’m someone whose interests bounce around, and I just can’t picture any tattoo design that I wouldn’t get tired of.

Q. Why did you choose to label Josh as Ghost?

A.
If you’ve ever had a family member leave – through death, addiction, mental illness – your family still remembers them, still feels them, as if they’re a ghost moving through the house. The ghost is someone you can’t see, but you can feel, and who’s still in your heart.

Q. Why did you decide to write a paranormal story (RAVEN) after the more "realistic" STREET PHARM and SNITCH?

A. As I mentioned above, I’ve always had an interest in the paranormal. Street Pharm and Snitch were written while I was teaching at a Brooklyn high school, so naturally that dominated my creativity at the time. If you think Raven is different from my first two books, wait till you see my next two, The Oracle of Dating and The Oracle Rebounds. They represent my lighter side (believe me, I do have one!)

Q. I’m really curious about Josh. Any hints on where you see his life going? If there is a sequel will we get to see more of him?

A. I don’t know if there’s going to be a sequel, but if so, Josh would be an important character in it. Though Josh has so much love and beauty in him, he’s prone to getting caught up in things that aren’t healthy. I could see him getting involved with some Jiang Shi who don’t care whether the humans they’re taking souls from are dying or not…
